Getting transcripts one video at a time is fine for one video and painful for fifty. Batch mode removes the tedium: submit a list of videos (or a whole playlist URL) and one job processes them all, then you download the results in bulk.
What you can submit
- A list of video URLs or bare 11-character video IDs
- A full playlist URL — expanded into its videos server-side
- A channel URL — its uploads are expanded the same way
- Optionally a target language, applied to every video in the batch
How a batch job works
- Paste the list (or playlist link) and start the job. You get a batch ID immediately — no waiting, nothing blocks.
- Videos are processed in the background. Captions are pulled where available; videos without captions can be transcribed from audio.
- Check progress at any time with the batch status endpoint — it is lightweight and does not re-send the content.
- Download the finished results: one combined file, or one file per video, in TXT / SRT / VTT / CSV.
Failures are isolated and free
A broken link, a private video, or a rate limit on one entry does not sink the whole batch. The job finishes as partial, the failed items are listed with their reason, and you are only charged for the videos that succeeded.
Where batch mode shines
- Course archives — every lecture in a playlist, searchable as text.
- Competitor research — a channel's latest uploads, transcribed for analysis.
- LLM/RAG pipelines — bulk transcripts as training or retrieval context.
- Localization — a season of episodes, translated in one pass.
Frequently asked questions
Can I paste a whole playlist URL instead of individual links?
Yes. Playlist and channel URLs are expanded server-side into their video IDs automatically — one paste, whole playlist processed.
What is the maximum batch size?
25 videos per batch through the web UI. The developer API supports the same batch endpoints with identical limits and pricing.
What happens if one video in the batch fails?
The rest of the batch keeps going. The batch finishes as 'partial', the failed video is listed with its reason, and you are only charged for the successful ones.
How do I download the results?
One combined file for the whole batch, or a single file per video — in TXT, SRT, VTT, or CSV (with a video_id column per row). Batch results are kept for 24 hours.
